Hotel Nicolaas Witsen

The room was quiet and had everything we needed for a cozy couples' break: coffee and tea, a safe, a great TV, USB plugs all around, a Bluetooth speaker and fast, reliable free WiFi. It was stylish and spotless, and the bed was super comfortable. We had no complaints. We spent two lovely nights at Hotel Nicolaas Witsen, February 18-20. The staff made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived, with helpful tips, directions and plenty of smiles. The hotel is on a peaceful street, so it felt removed from the tourist bustle while still being handy for trams and other public transport to the main sights. It felt special and good value. We had a wonderful romantic getaway and would definitely return.

The room was clean, and the staff were so kind and helpful. One lovely woman took time to explain in detail which places to visit around the city. The location is just perfect. Two things could be better: the room isn't well insulated, so we could hear neighbors talking and walking, and the hotel doesn't provide slippers. Still a very good hotel overall, 10/10 for cleanliness.

We slept really well here. The hotel was quiet at night, and the bed, duvet and pillows were incredibly comfortable after our long trip. Our room was compact, as you'd expect in Amsterdam, but had plenty of storage and a handy little fridge. The huge window opened too, so the room never felt stuffy. We could walk to all the tourist spots, and the staff were friendly throughout. It was a lovely stay, and we can't wait to come back.

The breakfasts were a real treat, especially the eggs made to order by the sweetest chef in the business. I also loved the gin and tonics at the bar. Ask for the Old Genever. Everyone on staff was fantastic and made me feel welcome. They gave me great advice on where to eat and where to go for gin tastings. My room was spotless, and they cleaned it when I asked. Great boutique hotel!
