We could get around easily by public transport, though the city was so flat and pleasant for walking that we ended up going everywhere on foot. Our room was down some steep steps, but it was very quiet and peaceful, close to the centre without being near enough to hear the party scene. It had a massive bed, a spacious bathroom for a 3 night stay, good air conditioning, blackout curtains, coffee, and the facilities we needed. We arrived during a power outage in that part of the city, but the staff stayed professional and accommodating. We booked the train and hotel together with Eurostar, and couldn't have been happier with how the stay went.

We were very comfortable in our spacious junior suite on the 3rd floor during our 6 nights in February. There are only a handful of rooms on each floor, so it never felt like a busy, bustling hotel. The rain shower was gorgeous, and there was a large tub too. I couldn't figure out how to turn it on and gave up rather than ask. Housekeeping came by later in the afternoon, which didn't always fit my schedule, but it wasn't a big issue. The location was convenient for sightseeing, right by Vondel park and the Museum Quarter, with dining options nearby and tram stops at Overtoom and Leidseplein about a 10min walk away. You need to buzz the front desk or use your room card to get in, which made the stay feel secure. The front desk was always staffed by friendly, helpful people, and they gladly held our luggage before check-in. The stairs were a bit terrifying, so I almost always took the elevator. On a couple of days there was a slight sewage smell in the lobby and elevator. I couldn't tell if it was from the hotel or the street, but it didn't reach the room, so it didn't bother me much. The hotel was clean, quiet, and convenient, and I'd absolutely stay again. I'd recommend it especially to solo travelers or couples. Breakfast cost €20 per person per day, which felt extremely overpriced for what was offered. Local cafes had better food for less.

I wish I'd realized before booking that the room was in the basement. It was extremely dirty when we arrived, and the bathroom and toilet were covered in water stains and grime. We could hear every footstep from upstairs, so sleeping was impossible. I asked about an upgrade, but they said the hotel was fully booked and couldn't do anything. It cost €62 per night, plus €52 for parking, and the stay was disappointing enough that I felt I had to leave a negative review.

The room itself was in okay condition, but I was unhappy with the stay. I booked a suite directly, even though I could see that booking through OTAs would cost the same. When I arrived, it seemed they'd downgraded me to a quadruple room. They said I'd booked the last available room and could get any room listed on the website. That simply can't be true. When I was booking, I tried to reserve two rooms, but my plans changed. I could see two rooms were bookable at the time, so calling mine the last available room was a blatant lie.
