The location worked really well, with a tram stop outside and restaurants nearby. You can walk to the Jordaan, the Rijksmuseum and lots of other sights. The staff were super friendly and helpful, genuinely the best. The reception area felt cozy, and there was free coffee. I didn’t have time for breakfast, but it looked fresh and had plenty of variety. I did try their yogurt one day, a generous bowl with granola, blueberries, nuts and seeds for less than €5. My small basement room had everything I needed and a window onto the courtyard, with a shared bathroom. There’s no lift, and the stairs are VERY steep, as is common in Amsterdam. I managed with a backpack and rolling carry-on, though a large suitcase might be difficult. I could also hear a lot of foot traffic from downstairs, with creaking floorboards and the like. Light sleepers may want earplugs or earbuds. I’d definitely stay again.

The rooms are simple, nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. The beds were soft and the water was always hot. Just be aware that Hotel La Boheme is in a row house, so there’s no lift and the stairs are steep. We stayed for a week in November 2025, and Astrid and Jacky, the tuxedo cat and de facto manager, made us feel at home straight away in the cozy cafe/reception on the first floor. It became our favorite place to start the day before heading out. The hotel has a relaxed feel and a great spot, right in the middle of everything without feeling hectic or touristy. It’s one block from Leidseplein square, walking distance to the attractions, and there’s a tram stop directly outside. For my first trip to Amsterdam, Hotel La Boheme was one of the highlights. Friendly staff and excellent value.

The cat was a highlight, and the staff were really nice and helpful. The area was pleasant, with things to do, and the place had a cute look. There’s a bus stop right by the hotel and another just a few minutes away. The rooms are small but have what you need. The stairs are very steep, so hauling big luggage up wasn’t easy. Also, the toilet is right against the wall, which felt a bit odd.

The breakfast was tasty and the staff were attentive. The breakfast and reception room feels warm and inviting, and we ate two takeaway dinners there when the kids were tired after sightseeing. We were traveling with our 10-year-old daughter, and the staff were extremely friendly to her and to the friends we met in Amsterdam. The hotel is close to a metro station, but it wasn’t noisy, since there aren’t any sidewalk cafés right below the rooms. We had a great stay and would come back.

The twin room was lovely and clean, with two small beds. One sits right under a big window, and I loved lying there in the sun, looking out at the street. As a solo traveler, I felt comfortable and welcome from the start. Everyone on staff was kind. When I had an issue with the shower’s hot water, they checked it right away and even offered me another room. Thank you! Jacky the cat is adorable and sometimes likes to play. I’m glad I found this hotel and will book again. If you want somewhere in Amsterdam where you feel comfortable and might want to stay longer, this is a good choice.
