The room was okay, and the location was excellent for exploring the city. But housekeeping let us down. After the first day's service, we found a large stain on our quilt and one towel had been taken without a replacement. We reported both problems and asked for a clean quilt and another towel. The quilt was never changed, and we had to ask several times before we got a towel. The location is a major plus, but the lack of attention to those basic requests made our stay worse.

For our short time in Amsterdam, being close to all the major attractions was a real plus, and the price was worth it. The rooms were clean and staff friendly, especially Osama, who took time to point us toward things we could fit into a brief visit. Recommended.

We could hear loud arguments from the next room in the middle of the night because the rooms weren't soundproofed well, and it disrupted our rest. The shower area was also quite cramped and uncomfortable to use. When we arrived, reception staff didn't greet or acknowledge us, which made the place feel unwelcoming. A simple hello can make a real difference to guests.

We ended up leaving after 2 nights and moved to another hotel 4km’s away. For the same price, we got a room four times the size and breakfast included. The Melrose hotel is completely overpriced, and we'll never stay there again. Breakfast had been advertised on the website, but there was none. We were given 2 TINY rooms below ground level for our 7 nights, with no natural sunlight, and reception staff were very unhelpful when we asked about an upgrade.

The location is ideal, really close to Amsterdam’s city centre, and the price is very affordable. The hotel was lovely, cozy, and clean. Mr. Shafi at reception was especially helpful, with a great personality and a good sense of humor. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam.
