Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station

The transport connections to RAI and Centraal were excellent, with both metro and rail nearby. Staying beside Sloterdijk Station suited me well, and reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a bit smaller than I'd expect at a four-star hotel, but the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was spacious, with a very good large rainfall shower, and I found the fridge handy for keeping milk for tea. Some welcome biscuits or something similar would have been nice. Breakfast wasn't included and was an expensive extra, though I'm not sure if that was a booking error. There didn't seem to be egg options beyond scrambled at first, and fried eggs only appeared after 08:00, which didn't help me. No one mentioned whether I could order something special or explained that at breakfast.

The only thing I didn't like was the parking, which was easy to use but really expensive. Otherwise, I had such a good Christmas stay that I'd definitely book here again in Amsterdam. We arrived by car and the location was great: busy yet peaceful, with the train and tram stops an easy walk away, and we used them a lot. Reception was so helpful that they let us check in soon after 10am, even though we were early. The receptionist, whose name I didn't get, let us choose a floor, so I picked the highest. We had a great view of the station and city. The room was cosy and a good size. The portrait of a woman in the room startled me now and then, though!

The service was really satisfying, and the staff were friendly and helpful. When my friend and I arrived, the receptionist gave us a warm welcome and offered a drink. Our spacious room had two beds, a minibar, a work desk and a bathroom with all the amenities. We stayed two nights, and it went by so quickly. The hotel also has a gym, luggage storage, meeting room, sky bar restaurant, parking, mini market, and toilets accessible to friends with disabilities. It's in a quiet spot with a nice view, right by Sloterdijk train station, and only five minutes by train from the city centre. Highly recommend, and I'd definitely come back. It's one train stop from Amsterdam central, with easy connections to other nearby towns and cities. The room was clean and spacious, including the toilet and shower. The bed was comfortable, and breakfast on the 8th floor had a good range of food.
