The staff were lovely and attentive, and our balcony room had a nice view. We got a Genius deal on Booking.com and saved about £200 on our four-night stay. The room was fairly spacious and had a cozy, atmospheric feel, though the lighting was so dim it wouldn't suit a work trip or reading in bed. It's an old Amsterdam canalhouse and not soundproof, so we heard people in the corridors and it could get noisy, even though other guests weren't being disrespectfully loud. There's no breakfast, but the staff recommended an excellent sandwich bar across the street with very good prices.

There are restaurants, bars and museums within walking distance, and public transport is easy to reach. We also had a great canal view across the street. The window open at night did let in some city noise, but that's to be expected in a big city. After a long travel day, the complimentary water and soda in the mini fridge and the coffee in the room were a welcome touch. Sebastian checked us in and was extremely friendly and helpful. The only unsettling moment was returning to find our room door wide open after the day's cleaning. Sebastian said the cleaner must have been distracted and assured us this had never happened before. There were no further incidents, so hopefully it was a one-time error. We stayed three nights, had a great time overall and would come back to Amsterdam.

We couldn't get into the room. The hotel hadn't given us a key, the entry code didn't work, and we were told to wait for a staff member in our room who never showed up. The place wasn't clean either, and we found the staff untrustworthy. We left and booked another hotel. The worst hotel I've ever seen. I gave it one star only because I couldn't give less.

Sebastian at reception was very nice and helpful. The deluxe double was big and spacious, and the hotel is in a great location. I also stayed in a single room for one night, and that one was tiny.
