Pillows Luxury Boutique Hotel Anna Van Den Vondel

Maison Elle feels like a peaceful little refuge in the city, and the rooms are quiet, relaxed, and beautifully designed and furnished. It's right beside Vondelpark, with the Museum district an easy, lovely walk away, while the setting stays calm and away from the city's bustle. This was a great return visit to one of my favourite hotels. It always feels like a home away from home.

Being next to Vondelpark was a real highlight, whether for a run or a relaxed walk. We could use the hotel's bikes to reach great places to eat, while staying away from the busy pubs and bars. The compact room was thoughtfully laid out and well equipped, and it was quiet at night. Having a lift was much appreciated, too. Maison ELLE mixes its old architecture with modern technology and clean lines, and the contemporary art around the hotel adds a refined feel. From the start, the reception staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived early, but they stored our luggage, tagged each item carefully, and kept our laptops safely in the back. The whole stay felt magical, and we can't wait to return.

A handy base for seeing Amsterdam, with public transport close by. The staff were great, and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The stairs are steep, though there is also an elevator. I'd stay again.

The room facing the terrace was quiet, and the bed was comfortable. Those were the best parts of a stay that felt like poor value, especially at the high weekend price. After an overnight flight, we were hoping for a nice boutique hotel. On arrival I found a hair on the bed, then a few more when I looked closely, and more again inside the duvet. I told the front desk, and they quickly changed the sheets and apologized. The staff member said the manager would be back on Monday and might do something for us, but we heard nothing from the hotel after that until we dropped off our keys at checkout. The room was tiny, as other reviews have mentioned, with barely space to walk once our two suitcases were on the floor. The toilet seat was attached by just one bolt and shifted when you sat down. Deep scuffs on the walls made the room feel cheap and unclean. I didn't try the coffee machine. For what we paid, I expected much better quality. For context, I travel for work regularly and have spent 40+ nights in hotels this year. This is the first time I've complained to a front desk, let alone written a review.
