Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel

The staff were friendly and attentive, and the bar area is lovely. It looks and feels like a five-star hotel, but as a building services engineer who's just finished designing one, I could tell they had cut costs on the services. I think the shower had a flow restrictor. The AC seemed to be a multisplit system, so rooms couldn't be controlled independently for heating or cooling, only by fan speed. The main controller appeared to be in an unoccupied outside room that was below the set temperature. That meant I could only heat my already hot room, and one night I was frustrated and couldn't sleep. Breakfast was okay, but on one of my three days they ran out of eggs, orange juice, and butter. The serving stations were often empty and weren't properly replenished even after I asked. The central location worked well for a weekend city break, though I'm not sure the hotel is good value.

The minibar isn't stocked, so late-night snacks mean going downstairs to get them. The club lounge is nice, with okay food, and breakfast was okay too. I liked the room's cool look and vibe, and the bar is really nice. There's also a 24/7 shop for drinks and snacks with self-checkout. Great hotel with excellent facilities, and friendly people at reception.

The people working here really made the stay better, especially Maik Faijk, who's such a polite, helpful gentleman. Keep that great energy up, Maik. The location is right in the middle of most of the attractions, and I don't think it gets better than this. The room, breakfast, and dining room were all great. Best.

Faijk greeted us every day and gave us great recommendations. It was lovely to see a familiar, friendly face whenever we came or went. The location was wonderfully central, so we could get everywhere easily. The hotel gym was incredible, modern, and clean. We loved our stay and couldn't have chosen a better place.
