Sir Adam Hotel, part of Sircle Collection

We had a fantastic time at Sir Adam and would happily come back. The free ferry ran constantly, so getting there was easy, and we loved having such a good restaurant on site. There’s lots to do north of the city, and the location worked really well for us. The staff and service were excellent. The Museum District is a fair distance away, but the ferry and Metro made the trip there about 20-25 minutes.

We stayed at the Sir Adam Hotel on 25th & 26th March and would gladly return. On arrival, we got a complimentary room upgrade, which was a lovely surprise. The room had a great view over the water, a very comfortable bed, and a practical layout. Concrete finishes, warm lighting, solid wood furniture, and thoughtful design gave it a modern industrial feel. The guitar, artwork, and records added a rock-and-roll touch that didn’t feel contrived. Everything seemed well made and intentional, and the hotel had a confident, grown-up atmosphere. Staff were professional, relaxed, and efficient. Downstairs at The Butcher, we had the double smash burger, chicken burger, and cheese fries. All were high quality, well cooked, and just right after a day out. Having that kind of food in the hotel was a real plus. One of the best hotels we’ve stayed in, stylish and comfortable with its own character.

The room was cozy, though small, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I liked the location by the ferry to the train station. The room was hot, though, and I couldn’t find a way to turn on the air conditioning. The elevator process was also confusing and overcomplicated: you scan your key card at the bottom and again at your floor, then enter your floor on a separate panel outside the elevator.

The river and ferry location is excellent, and the staff were friendly. There’s also a handy supermarket behind the hotel, so you can avoid mini-bar prices. But this was our second visit, eight years after the first, and we’d only come back for a cheap deal. The standard room was very small and too hot even with the air con at its lowest. It was clean, but clutter left little space for our things. The rug was threadbare, though the beds were very comfortable. The twin beds were pointless because there was no gap between them. The shower floor tiles get extremely slippery when wet. We returned mainly for the Skybar, where we’d celebrated my 50th birthday before. Now you have to queue and pay to go up for a drink, which wasn’t the case last time, so we went elsewhere. The lifts used to all have themed flashing lights, but now only one did. I’m a Sircle club member, but wasn’t offered early check-in or a free upgrade, so that membership seems worthless. Communication before arrival was poor too: emails asking to ensure we had a twin room went unanswered. Next time we’ll go back to the Jakarta.
