The Hoxton, Amsterdam

The food at the restaurant was really enjoyable, and they were accommodating about diet. The rooms were very clean, and the service was outstanding across the board. The hotel has a great vibe and is clearly popular with locals too. The location is hard to beat, and I’ll put this brand high on my list for future trips. The lobby and bar had just the right buzz, a cool place to hang out without feeling overwhelming, and the cocktails were excellent. The bar staff were as friendly as the front desk team. I also loved the room: cozy but sleek, incredibly comfortable, and with a beautiful canal view. It may be one of the sexiest hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. I’m pretty easygoing about most things, but I’ll admit I’m a hotel snob. After around 24 hours of travel from California, I arrived looking like the crypt keeper. My room wasn’t ready that early, which was completely fair, but the woman at reception was warm and said she’d call when one became available. I went for a wander around the adorable neighborhood, and not long after, she called to say I could check in well before the usual time. It felt like she really wanted me to have a good stay, instead of just going through the motions. The neighborhood was perfect, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby and the metro an easy walk away. My only regret is that I’d booked another hotel near my company’s office for the rest of the trip, so I could only stay one night. Getting around by metro was incredibly easy. Next time I’m in Amsterdam for work, the Hoxton will be my home base. Already looking forward to returning.

I come here to get some work done and have a nice drink. The atmosphere, the people, and the general vibe are all things I love. Cristine is a big part of what makes it such a good experience. She’s welcoming and friendly, and somehow knows what I’m going to order before I say it. Those little details make me feel welcome and brighten my day.

The hotel was very clean, comfortable, and had a feel we loved. Its location was fantastic, and the food was very good. Staff were kind and helpful from booking right through checkout. Anna in the restaurant was lovely, warmly greeting us every morning and always being professional.
