This Ho(s)tel

The bathrooms were fine, and our room was clean and tidy. We booked quite late but still got a good price for one cube, and the location was very convenient. The big drawback was the smell: the hallways reeked of toilets. Staff also came across as unfriendly and unwelcoming.

The room was tiny, though that worked for me since I was out all day and only came back to sleep. It was really clean, and staff kept the bathroom spotless. I barely heard any noise beyond the usual hotel sounds. The location is great, close to Central Station and within walking distance of most things. The staff were super friendly and helpful too. I'd recommend it to anyone traveling alone.

The false fire alarm at 4 a.m. is why I’m giving this place three stars. We all had to go out onto the street, which was especially bad since I was staying there before an early journey the next morning. Maybe someone smoking in a room set it off, as can happen in this part of Amsterdam, but I don’t know. The cubes themselves are comfortable and good value for the area, and the hostel is close to Centraal. At least on the second floor, you can’t hear the street.

There’s a pub and restaurant downstairs, and the place is near the train station. My room was clean and the staff were friendly. Just be aware that the bathroom is shared and there are only two toilets. I enjoyed my stay and am sure I’ll come back next time I’m in Amsterdam.
