Travel Hotel Amsterdam

The staff were the best part for us. Everyone at the front desk was great and went out of their way to make our family’s stay good. Inky was especially kind and friendly. We had two children, and this hotel made our time in Amsterdam awesome, thank you! The rooms were in very good condition, cleaner than I expected from the pictures, and I knew what they’d be like beforehand. The location is hard to beat, right near everything and about a five-minute walk from the train station. So how does a budget hotel get five stars? For us, it’s the location, rooms, and people.

I booked a three-bed room with a private bathroom and was pleasantly surprised for the price and based on the reviews. The bedding and room were clean, and the location was perfect. The main issue was mold in the bathroom.

The location is great and the staff were friendly, but I didn’t have a pleasant stay. There are no facilities on site apart from a vending machine, and I saw a rat at reception. The beds are extremely narrow, not full-size singles, and even too narrow for children. Thin walls mean you hear a lot, and people were constantly going up and down the very narrow, noisy stairs throughout the day and night. If you need a good night’s sleep, this isn’t the place.

For around $100 a night right in central Amsterdam, this was a great place to stay while sleeping and exploring the city. The staff were welcoming and nice; I didn’t run into anyone rude. The main issue was the thin walls. A group in the next room partied late, and when they shouted it sounded like they were right outside our door. We asked them to quiet down after a certain time, and that solved it. The stairs are steep and narrow, so if you have health issues, ask for a lower floor before booking. People complain about there being no elevator, but it’s a historic building, and climbing some stairs is hardly the end of the world. The low ratings seem to come from people expecting luxury for cheap.
