I really liked this hotel, and you don’t have to be an old hipster to feel at home here. The decor is cool, the vibe is hip and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast and lunch at canvas were very good, and Monday night yoga was four stars. The sauna was amazing. The hot tubs weren’t as hot as I’d have liked, though, and they might be full when it’s busy. I came because my India visa had a problem and I had to stay in Amsterdam until it was sorted. When I needed to print the corrected visa from my tablet, the woman at the front desk patiently figured out how to send the PDF to her printer. I find that sort of thing confusing, and she knew more than I did and seemed to enjoy helping. Management, the tallish brunette around 30 with a bob deserves a raise, or at least a hug and confetti.

We were there Friday-Monday, and the hotel felt quirky and unlike others we’ve stayed in. It’s near a local shop, the station and tram lines. The rooms are small but worked perfectly for a couple, and they were very clean. The shower was great, including the privacy detail. After a long day walking, the comfortable bed was just right. We didn’t try the food or drinks, so can’t comment on those. Would definitely recommend it.

We got a better room than the one we’d booked, which was a nice surprise. The hotel was clean and modern, with lots of things to do. The price also included the saunas and hot tubs, a big bonus. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the service was outstanding. We had a really pleasant stay at Volkshotel in Amsterdam. Highly recommended.

The hallway view was a lovely surprise, and my room was cozy and very clean even though it was a bit small. This place turned out better than I expected, and I’d consider staying again 😊

The beds were so comfy, and we loved the rooftop hot tubs and saunas, even in January. We booked an XS double room and got an unexpected upgrade to a medium when we arrived. The location was perfect for exploring de Pijp and oost, with the metro just a 2 minute walk away and a supermarket next door. The coffee is amazing too. We had the best few days and will be back!!!! Please open one in every city!!!!!!
