There’s no reception or hotel staff on site, and customer service is handled through WhatsApp or the app. That worked out fine and was pleasant. There are some lockers by the entrance, available from 9am before check-in and until 8pm on checkout day, but they’re first come, first served. The room had everything we needed, including a kettle and coffee machine, with extra supplies in the foyer if needed. The bus stop right outside had frequent services into the city centre, which made this a very pleasant and convenient base for our Amsterdam trip.

The room was good, and the place was very clean. Free luggage storage and a washer and dryer were available, which was handy. The bathroom in the master bedroom has no shower curtain or divider, so you have to shower carefully to keep the area outside from getting too wet. Otherwise, excellent all around!

Room 001 on the ground floor was loft-style, with mismatched steps that were easy to trip on and a layout where you could hit your head. I stayed there as a light sleeper, and the noise isolation was awful, both from outside and from other rooms. The beds are in the loft, where every footstep from upstairs came through clearly. The guests above me stomped around all night for several nights, making it a miserable stay. The loft was stuffy and uncomfortable. As far as I could tell, none of the ground-floor rooms have air conditioning or decent air circulation. This was a poorly done conversion into a hotel, not some historic building where oddities are expected, and there are hundreds of other options in the city. I nearly forgot, the “hot” water was lukewarm at best, and the elevator was out of service. That also affected the other half of my family group, who had a room on the second floor. If you’re a light sleeper who cares about comfort and sleep, stay somewhere else.

The location was the best part. There’s a cute Zoo just 10 minutes away, and it’s easy to get to the city centre. Nearby restaurants, brunch spots, and supermarkets gave us good options when we didn’t feel like going all the way into central Amsterdam. The elevator was broken for our entire week, which was especially difficult since our room was on the highest floor and we had to carry our heavy luggage ourselves. The room was fine but not very clean. There was a bad smell from the shower drain or something else in the bathroom, and there was no bathroom window to open. Sound insulation upstairs was terrible. Even with every window closed, we could hear every truck, train, and police siren at night. After long days of sightseeing, we had sleepless nights. I was a bit disappointed with this Apartment Hotel.

The bus stop right outside Numa Stays Amsterdam made it easy to explore the city, and the beds were comfortable. The room was clean, the kitchen was well equipped, and we got some free welcome goodies, a lovely touch. I stayed four nights and was impressed overall. There were a few things that needed attention. The bathroom ventilation could be better, as it consistently smelled of smoke and was irritating. We found a bug in the apartment at first. Staff responded promptly on WhatsApp, but the issue persisted in the bathroom for our entire stay and wasn’t fully resolved. Laundry was another hassle. Only two washing machines and dryers were working for a large number of guests, so we waited hours to do our laundry. Even with those issues, I’d recommend Numa Stays Amsterdam for its location and comfortable rooms. A little attention to those details would make the stay even better.
