Molendal

The rooms were advertised as luxurious and comfortable, but our stay at Hotel Molendal didn't deliver the relaxing, beautiful experience we expected. We paid 142€ a night, and the service was highly unsatisfactory. Ongoing construction right outside our window wasn't disclosed until check-in and badly affected our privacy and peace. At 8 am, construction noise and the workers' radio woke us. A worker could also look directly into our room, which made us even more uncomfortable (see photos). The key information about the construction was tucked into an automated booking confirmation email in Dutch, which we couldn't understand as non-locals. We told the property we were unhappy and asked for a discount, both directly and through Booking.com customer service, but they refused to compensate us for what we'd had to put up with. 142€ is a substantial amount for us, and this planned vacation at Hotel Molendal was a rare, special occasion. This was the worst customer service I've experienced in years, and ironically the most expensive stay I've ever booked. For a place in this price range, customer satisfaction should come first. We left feeling cheated, ripped off, and profoundly disappointed. I can't recommend it. If you're looking for a pleasant stay, choose somewhere else.
