City Hotel Bergen op Zoom

The staff were nice, and the hotel was otherwise good. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable, though the view wasn’t nice. There’s no food at night, but beer is available until midnight. The stairs were not nice at all, and the single room had a really, really small bed. For a 3-star hotel, though, it’s a really good one.

My stay here was awful. There was no queue, yet reception made me wait nearly 10 minutes before giving me Room 47. When I got there, the door was already unlocked, which made me uneasy. The room had a strong cigarette smell everywhere, including the towels, duvet, sheets, mattress cover, and curtains, so I couldn’t sleep comfortably. My booking clearly said a double queen bed, but I was given a single bed instead. The price was completely unjustified, and I would have been much better off spending it at another hotel in Bergen op Zoom. Breakfast was disappointing too: there was a toaster but no bread or toast, and the food quality was poor. If a good night’s sleep, cleanliness, and your health matter to you, I strongly recommend avoiding this place.

Everything was close by, so getting around was easy and stress-free. We had a very pleasant two-day stay in a standard room, and the hotel made a good base for walks nearby. It’s in a top spot near the town centre. We enjoyed drinks on the hotel bar terrace after getting back. Breakfast was simply very good and had everything we needed, and the staff were very friendly. We wholeheartedly recommend the hotel and plan to return next year.

The room was spacious and very clean, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. It’s about a five-minute walk from the city centre, and the breakfast buffet was really good. There was a cute little kettle for hot water for tea or coffee, plus a mini fridge and a safe in a small corner with space to hang jackets. I definitely recommend it.
