There’s a note about the Google Maps photos: some show a different, separate property on the estate, not De Stolp. We spent a lovely weekend there with 11 friends. The place was clean and roomy, with a well-stocked kitchen, good filter coffee, and comfortable beds and mattresses. There was plenty of space for all 11 of us at the table and in the lounge.

We had a good weekend and the facilities were fine, but the deposit deduction left a really sour taste. Someone in our group fell through the trampoline barefoot, and afterwards it was clear that it was in poor condition and unsafe. We were still held responsible for the costs. There were no cleaning supplies available because they were locked away, so we did our best with our own products. Even so, they took a substantial amount from the deposit, despite our following the agreed terms. The refund was almost nothing, which felt absurd.

The house is lovely, with a living area, kitchen, two bathrooms, and plenty of bedrooms. It sits in beautiful surroundings on a large plot with lots of play equipment for children. Cleanliness could be better, though. On my second night I slept on the top bunk and noticed about five spiders right above me.

There’s a lovely open view across the fields at the back, and with the forest across the road and the beach nearby, it’s a peaceful spot. I’ve been here many times with different groups, including years of gym trips starting from NieuwBornrif, followed by cooking together in the big kitchen. There’s room for all kinds of indoor and outdoor activities. More recently, my group did cold training, cooking classes, and meditation here. It’s laid out so spaciously that you can really do almost anything. We’ll definitely come back.
