Hotel het Wapen van Delden

Dinner was a relaxed, pleasant way to end a long, busy day. Breakfast was a real treat too, with fresh orange juice, delicious coffee, and pretty much every breakfast option you could want. You could even cook your own bacon and fresh eggs if you felt like it. The staff were welcoming and efficient, and our room was comfortable and practical. This wasn't quite the place we remembered from a special family spot in childhood, but it still met our expectations as travellers. Thanks, Hotel Wapen van Delden, and well done.

There’s plenty of parking, and both breakfast and the kitchen were good. The food was excellent, and the bowling alley was fun. The hotel itself was clean, with good-sized rooms, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool is also used for local children’s swimming lessons, though, so guests sometimes have to pass wet kids in the hallway on the way to their rooms. Some parents change their children there too. A few times I opened my door and found a wet child and their mother right outside. It’s a nice service for the neighborhood, but it didn’t feel great for hotel guests during Corona times.

The food was AMAZING, and the staff were friendly. The bed was super comfy, and the pool was a good size with a nice temperature. Guests can use the bowling alley at a special price, and they rent electric bikes and suggest routes too. We had a really nice weekend and would recommend it to friends. A couple of things could be better: we mentioned some strange hairs on the blanket at reception, but were told it was new, and no replacement was offered. Also, on Saturday, a family in the pool made a lot of noise before 7am. A set schedule might help guests who want to sleep in.

Dinner here was a real pleasure. The food was delicious and made with good ingredients, and the staff were friendly. The red house wine is worth trying too. We enjoyed it so much that we took two boxes home when we checked out. I’d happily recommend the place.
