Den Burg is the capital of Texel sheep, the world's boldest, meatiest breed. The hotel itself has a lot of wartime history.

The rooms in the Polderhuis annex are my favorite, especially the larger ones with a balcony. There are several room types to choose from, including bigger suites. The beds are really comfortable, and the room has good toiletries, Nespresso, tea, and air conditioning that works well, which isn't something you can count on in the Netherlands. Breakfast is a generous buffet, with outdoor seating available. The Brasserie is good for lunch or dinner too, and you can stop in for a drink any time.

Texel is easy to explore from this well-located hotel. The food was very good and the employees were nice. The bathroom's a little cramped and used to have no shampoo shelf, though one has since been installed (2025).

We've stayed here five times now, and we've never regretted it. The rooms are cozy and spotless, with good beds and air conditioning, which keeps bringing us back. The staff are always friendly and ready to help, and the kitchen and wait staff really go the extra mile. Food portions are generous, and the breakfast buffet has plenty of fresh options. We still wonder why it only has three hotel stars. I'd recommend it any time. Parking is limited, but they were working on expanding it when we visited yesterday. Den Burg is small, so there are free parking spots about a five minute walk away, and you can reserve a hotel spot if you plan ahead.
