Leonardo Boutique Hotel Maastricht City Center

The location is great, with the train station just a few minutes away on foot and several restaurants nearby. You can walk over the Sint Servaas bridge to the city center in 10-15 minutes. The reception staff are helpful and quick to assist. Our room was beautiful in a fantastic hotel. The bakery next door is very expensive, but there are plenty of other breakfast options nearby.

The design is lovely throughout, from the hallway to the room and really everything. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good, with a freshly made fried egg.

At least the bathroom was clean and good. The bed, though, was the worst I've ever had. The mattress was extremely soft, while the pillows were very stiff. Why have four identical, super-stiff pillows? Together they made it impossible to get comfortable, and I had sleepless nights. Sleep is the main thing you need from a hotel, so that was a major failure. The entrance area was being renovated, with different sections closed off each day. Check-in also took a long time because some things weren't working for the people ahead of me. I don't recommend it.

The location beside the station is perfect, and breakfast was excellent. Still, I expected more from a four-star hotel. I found lipstick residue on a supposedly clean towel, and the shower only gave lukewarm water. There was also street noise at 5:45 on Friday morning from a lorry carrying things, laundry bags, food, whatever it was. If you don't ask for cleaning, they skip it, which is ridiculous for a four-star place. I paid for breakfast for both days at check-in, but at check-out they asked me to pay again. I hadn't been given the card receipt on the first day. I asked for it, and the man said he'd give it to me with the invoice. They didn't end up charging me for breakfast a second time, but this kind of thing isn't pleasant.
