We came in for a drink, then the tempting selection of fresh cakes convinced me to try one. They were delicious, and the staff were kind and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is cozy, the seats are comfortable, and it’s a good place for a meeting without loud music. The building has a distinctive old-fashioned feel that takes you back a century. It’s nothing like modern, beige interiors, so be prepared.

We stopped by for a drink and a snack in the afternoon, and the service was first class, polite and really attentive. Kamrul offered to show us around the hotel and shared some of its history. A brilliant visit. We’ll be back.

We found this charming hotel through our AMEX credit card while looking for a romantic city break to see Cirque du Soliel and the Christmas Fair. We walked from Central Station and were delighted to find the fair right at the hotel entrance. We’d booked and prepaid through the Leading Hotels website, with a note about our romantic getaway. The manager surprised us with a bottle of bubbles, which was a lovely start. The bellman and reception were very friendly. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and had tea and lunch one afternoon, then dinner and cocktails the second night. One useful tip: restaurant tables are hard to get on busy weeks. We couldn’t book anywhere, but the bar has 3 small tables and 8 chairs where you can eat and drink while watching the mixologists, no reservation needed. Everyone we met made us feel cared for and helped make the holiday special. This place has luxury, class, history, and kindness, and that made it feel worth spending my hard-earned money. Thank you to the hotel.

The food is refined and comforting without being flashy, and the champagne selection is excellent, served in proper glassware. The lounge has a calm feel, while the historic interiors, chandeliers, and high ceilings give the place real atmosphere. Service is impeccable and attentive without hovering. A grand old hotel with old-world elegance in the city center. It’s a good setting for business or a quiet evening, and worth stopping by for a drink or a stay.
