Our stay was 5/1-5/2. We'd travelled over 5000 miles to see the Netherlands and had booked all 3 nights at this property. Before arriving, the hosts didn't tell us about a major chemical hazard on the property. When we lay down to sleep, the bed linens and bathroom towels smelled like gasoline. The next morning, we asked the hosts about it, and they admitted that 3-4 liters of gasoline had spilled in the cellar 1-2 weeks before we arrived. They hadn't disclosed it, even though gasoline vapors pose carcinogenic health risks. We left the window as far open as it would go all night, but still had a restless, very uncomfortable night. We were able to leave early for more comfortable lodging without a penalty, but the host refused to refund the night we'd stayed. After such a serious failure to disclose the spill, a refund felt like the least they could do. Instead, they said, “Don’t worry, it won’t hurt you, just open the window.” The host wouldn't return the €145 we paid for that awful night. It left me feeling the hosts cared more about money than doing right by people. I'd tell others to stay far away.
