If you want a quiet, nature-filled place to stay while exploring or cycling, I’d rate this campsite 10 out of 10. You’re among the trees instead of in a huge open field, which gives it a bit of a wild camping feel and plenty of shade on sunny days. The toilets and showers were clean and looked after. I even saw staff cleaning late at night. The pool, though small, was fun for my daughter, but it seemed dated and wasn’t heated when we swam. The mini golf area could use attention too. The cement is cracked in places, and balls can get stuck. There was a letdown when we checked in. We were told the "kabouterpad" was open and that we could pick up a map at reception. The next day, we heard it was closed because it was being relocated, which disappointed our little one. It’s a peaceful base, but families with young kids might appreciate a few more updates and some extra attention.

The people managing this little park were friendly, and special thanks to the technical manager for sorting out a couple of small issues quickly. The house was spacious, comfortable, well equipped, and had great beds. We used the fantastic hot tub several times each evening, then rinsed off under the outdoor shower for a sauna-like effect. It felt like having wellness right at the door. The area is lovely too, with a direct walk from the house into the Dwingelderveld nature reserve. What a wonderful place!

The cottage is superb, with its hot tub, whirlpool, and infrared sauna. We’ve only just arrived at the park, and the welcome at reception was lovely. Fantastic place, in a word.

It’s quiet here, with no noise from the park at night, just tawny owls calling. The cottages sit among the greenery, and you can step straight out for long walks or bike rides in Dwingelerveld National Park. The park is in a beautiful spot on its edge. There aren’t many facilities, with no restaurant or similar, though you can order sandwiches and rent a bike. Bed making and (bath) towels cost extra. The furniture was modern and fine. Cottage 104 wasn’t as clean as I expected from the reviews. The cleaning seemed haphazard. There were spiders and webs all over, and I took some down myself. The beds didn’t look very clean, and I found hairs in several places, including the bed and shower, as well as crumbs left by previous guests. I’d expected at least one toilet roll, but there wasn’t one. This is just my experience in this cottage, and it may be different in the others.

We had a lovely stay in the Esberg wellness lodge, with its sauna, hot tub, sunshower, and wonderful bath. Everything was clean and tidy, though we ran out of time to enjoy it all. We also headed out onto the heath for a brisk walk. The park’s setting is stunning, right in the forest, with plenty of privacy around the cottages. We’d love to return with all the kids and stay in a wellness family house. Highly recommended.
