Hotel De Stadsherberg

I spent two nights at the hotel and had their desserts a couple of times. The best part was having the restaurant downstairs, where you can always expect something amazing from the chefs. The room was fairly sized, clean and simple, though quite basic. Walking in gives you a warm feeling, with soft lighting, candles, a few couches and an amazing terrace on the canal. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you're planning a visit to Franeker.

The room was comfortable, and the stay was super nice. The air conditioning was a bit loud, and the tables had been a little dirty. Breakfast had all the necessary things, including gluten-free bread. Parking is just across the street.

I was staying at the hotel and only meant to eat at the restaurant once, but the menu was so fantastic that I went back the next day 😊. I haven't had food this tasty at a restaurant in a long time. If you're lucky, you can get a spot with a canal view. Excellent!

For work, I'd stay here a few nights, though probably not for a private trip. The staff were friendly and the location central. Dinner was good, while breakfast was okay but a little basic. I stayed one night for work. The room was on the small side, the furniture a bit outdated, and the cleaning could have been better. I'd still visit the restaurant if I were in the neighborhood.
