The Black Sheep Hostel

The shared bathrooms were dirty and poorly kept, and the hostel’s cleanliness was well below what we expected. On top of that, the owner and reception staff were extremely rude. My mother used the wrong restroom by accident because she didn’t know which one to use, and instead of helping, they shouted at her and our family. We were first told the price would be €108, then later asked to pay €180 for one night for our family. It was frustrating and unprofessional. We eventually felt unwelcome and were even asked to leave. The way we were treated was disrespectful and unacceptable, and with the rude behavior, poor cleanliness, and lack of professionalism, I wouldn’t recommend The Black Sheep Hostel.

Breakfast was poor. We found the owner's large dog in the kitchen, and decided not to go to breakfast because only a few eggs and some bread were left for us. The owner later wrote that we had hidden the dog under our jacket, which definitely wasn’t true. He also said we checked out early, which wasn’t true either. Our room wasn’t ready on time, and the hosts weren’t friendly or professional. They hadn’t stated anywhere that pets weren’t allowed, and that caused a problem.

What a beautiful place, and it’s so well run. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was great, and I’m really happy I came here! :)

The area is super nice, and you can rent a boat to go along the canals. We had a very nice stay, and even arriving at 22:30, we were able to check in without any trouble. The house, bed, and bathroom were very clean and looked after, and the beds were comfortable. You do have to make your own bed, and towels aren’t provided, which is fine, just good to know. I took off a star because breakfast was very small, but all in all it was a lovely stay.
