Van der Valk Hotel Gilze - Tilburg

Breakfast had lots of choice and was excellent, and the room was clean and perfectly fine. Dinner was the real letdown: the menu was limited even with our package, and on both nights we waited so long for the food that we spent nearly three hours in the restaurant. The paid extras felt very expensive too. Bowling and karaoke came at premium prices, and even football golf outside cost €15 per person for what was basically a ball and a few holes in a grassy field. The pool was the only free facility, but there was just one seating bench. We stayed two nights on a breakfast-and-dinner package, and this was one of the less impressive Van der Valk hotels we've visited. I've stayed at much better Van der Valk places before. Such a shame.

A great place to unwind, with indoor and outdoor thermal pools and saunas both inside and outside the hotel. The indoor sauna is nude, so be prepared to go in naked with both men and women. The saunas by the outdoor pool include Finnish, herbal, and steam options, and you need to wear a swimsuit there. Enjoy!

The first part of my stay was pleasant, but the last night left me deeply disappointed. I was there for five nights because of unexpected car repairs, booking in three stages: Jan 9th for 3 nights, Jan 12th for 1 night, and Jan 13th for 1 night. For that final night, I was put in a basement room facing a construction site. It was around 15°C, and despite trying to warm it up, the room stayed cold until morning. Before 8:00 AM I was woken by loud heavy machinery, banging, and honking right outside. The single-night rate was considerably higher than the average I'd paid earlier, yet the room quality dropped sharply. After spending a considerable amount here in one week as a returning guest, being given what felt like the worst room for a higher price struck me as highly unprofessional. I'm very disappointed in this approach to customers.

The outdoor pool was lovely, and the staff were friendly. I only stayed one night in the cinema suite, and for the price I expected more. The room was very dark, there was no light above the bubble bath, no soap in the toilet, and no shower cap or pen and paper. The balcony needs attention, cables were hanging below the TV, the cushion had strange stains, and a bug fell from the ceiling. I don't know...
