The portions aren’t huge, so you might want to order something extra if you’re very hungry, but dinner was plenty satisfying for us. We were hotel guests and ate at the Restaurant, choosing the two-course menu. The salmon was tender and just right, and the lamb with polenta was awesome. Even the bread and butter they brought as a restaurant compliment was super tasty. Everything was delicious. I’d definitely recommend it.

The gardens are kept beautifully and are worth a wander. We stayed in the cosy B&B, where the rooms were nicely presented and breakfast was lovely. The hosts were very accommodating and the service felt personal. The seasonal dishes were beautiful and thoughtfully presented, definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

You need to book the castle tour ahead, and it costs €15. Ours lasted more than two hours, with plenty of time for our questions and no rushing. The guides were incredibly friendly and knew their stuff, which made the whole visit wonderful. At the end Peter played a little tune on the bagpipes. Brilliant!

The Castle and its garden are beautiful, and the peaceful surroundings are lovely, with lots of ways to explore the nearby forest. The hotel itself is small, clean, and modern. I had a great stay, and breakfast was lovely too.

My wife enjoyed her time at Kasteel Aldenghoor so much that she stayed for about six months. The hosts were excellent, and Rogier and his staff deserve a big shout out for looking after such a huge place and serving Michelin class dishes at the restaurant. Kasteel Aldenghoor and Restaurant are well worth the short drive from the central village. We both highly recommend them.
