Hajé hotel Heerenveen

The price is very reasonable, and there’s dinner available at the on site restaurant in the evenings. Breakfast is included, a basic self-service buffet. The room was spacious and clean, with a nice pond accessible from the terrace of ground floor rooms. The hotel is pleasant and sits a little way out of town, close to the main roads. There seem to be few staff on duty outside main office hours, which is fine if you’re okay with self-service for something like an early departure.

We ended up here unexpectedly after our car broke down. The rooms are nice and quite basic, breakfast was very good, and the people were friendly. At checkout, some payment details were unclear and hadn’t been mentioned earlier. Two people from customer service apologized for the misunderstanding, but did nothing to reduce our financial loss. I left with no good feeling.

It is currently a temporary shelter for refugees. I’m incredibly grateful to the Dutch for their hospitality and understanding. I’m also shocked by people who think the state owes them.)

The walls are so thin that noise from the neighbours kept us awake all night, and the rooms are really outdated and smelly. They should give this hotel a big make-over. Definitely not recommended.
