The food was good, and the portions suited me just right. By Dutch standards, the prices were about average, and I thought they matched the quality. We ate here with friends tonight. Our waitress seemed a little unfriendly, but everyone has an off day. Aside from that, the service was okay.

The service was okay, and that's the only reason I'm giving it two stars. The steak was dreadful, overcooked and chewy like gum, so don't order it. The dessert was very cheap and I didn't enjoy it. NEVER VISITING AGAIN. SHOULD HAVE GONE TO MC DONALD!!!

The location is the main reason to pick this hotel, only five minutes on foot from the train station. But anyone who can't walk or has trouble with stairs should know that the hotel rooms start on the first floor and there's no elevator. I don't remember seeing that when I booked. My room was small but workable for one person. The walls were damaged, the shower didn't seem well maintained, and the room was cold when I arrived because the street-facing window had been left open. I shut it, but after a few hours away the air felt so stuffy that I had to open it again. With the bars below and the cold weather, I had a hard time falling asleep. There was also a strange dripping sound, not from the sink or shower, and I could hear people in other rooms. The bed was comfortable, though the headboard was loose and sat right against a warm heater. I'm not sure that's a good setup. For the price, breakfast was underwhelming: no water, just tea, coffee, milk, and orange juice. Nobody explained what to do with my plate, and no one cleared any of the tables while I was there. At checkout, I saw fresh towels and bedding on the hallway floor. They shouldn't be left where everyone walks. I don't want a towel touching my face after it's been on the floor. If I return to Hengelo, I'd consider paying a little more for another hotel.

The location is perfect, the staff are friendly, and the rooms are very clean. I took off one star because the toilet is in the middle of the room with no door. The hotel should make that clear before people book.
