I came to Hilversum to see family and was unsure about staying outside town without a car. That turned out to be fine: the train station is a short walk away, and there’s a bus stop just down the street. The room was a good size, with big windows that open, comfortable beds and lovely soft bedding. I also had a proper work desk and plenty of outlets, which I need when I travel for work. The bathroom was spacious, with a huge walk-in shower. Everyone on staff was pleasant and helpful. I paid extra for breakfast and would recommend it. There was a good range, from flaky croissants and pear jam to very ripe cantaloupe, plus cheese, meats, fresh bread and plenty more. I really enjoyed my stay and will be back.

On my second visit, I again found the hotel clean, comfortable and affordable. There's a free drink if you opt out of daily room cleaning through the go green option. Breakfast is Dutch-style, with a wide selection of bread and spreads. The setting is lovely, close to a beautiful lake view, and Hilversum Sportpark station is about a five-minute walk away. From there you can connect by train to destinations around Europe, usually with one or two transfers. I used it to get to Schiphol Airport, which was cheaper and quicker than an expensive cab. Rates change, so you might find a great deal if you're lucky.

The room was fine and the beds were okay, though I’m a light sleeper. The staff were super friendly and the service was great. It’s about a five-minute walk to the train station.
