Hotel Oranjeoord

The staff had a lot of professionalism and hospitality, and I feel for them having to work in a place that doesn't support it. Management should focus on making sure what they offer actually works. They didn't deny that the room hadn't been cleaned. I travel to Apeldoorn for work every week and like trying a different hotel each time. This stay made me stop. The building and location looked lovely from outside, and having a restaurant attached was convenient. At check in I asked about the bill and dinner. Since I didn't have a reservation, they said they'd allow me to order the Chef's menu. It didn't suit my dietary needs, so I ordered in instead. I couldn't get the bill until the next morning. They asked when I wanted breakfast, preferably after 8, even though they advertise it from 7:30. They made an exception for me. Once in the room, I found a carpet stained with mud. The coffee machine sputtered out a tiny cup, as if it never gets cleaned. I tried to work at the desk, but there was no chair at the right height, and the WiFi disconnected every five minutes. The toilet space was the narrowest I've ever seen, with the paper positioned above the bathtub. Breakfast the next day was great. The front office wasn't there yet when I asked for the bill, so they said they'd email it. When it arrived, I saw a one euro donation to a good cause in Africa charged on behalf of my company. They'll refund my euro. I don't know what superlatives to use for how bad the stay was. Really bad.
