The breakfast was generous, with a few ways to tailor it, and we found the stay reasonably priced. It’s a dog friendly B&B in a small village. The smaller room could work better: making tea or coffee with the one liter teapot and shallow sink was awkward. The antique handles looked charming, though I couldn’t tell if the door had shut properly unless I locked it. Maybe that’s intentional. If we’re near Kortgene again, we’d happily stay here.

I ended up paying €75 after booking the wrong destination. I thought I was reserving a hotel in Zeeland, then discovered the same reservation number had apparently been attached to two hotels for the same date, Paterswolde and Het Veerse Meer. Very odd for a hotel chain, and I expected better. Fletcher.nl wouldn’t let me change the two supposed reservations, even though I offered to do that. Later, HET VEERSE MEER called to say we had two bookings there, including one they’d supposedly not accepted and the original one on their badly organized account. The hotel had sent no confirmation email, so I had to make an account and check the booking on Sunday, July 6th at 9:30 PM (see photo). We then had to call from Belgium to Holland to explain that it was their mistake, with the cell phone charges that came with that. Fletcher.nl apparently won’t consider complaints unless you formally file one, and then they cancel everything to protect their so-called brand image.

The marina is lovely and only a two-minute walk away, and the hotel sits on a very idyllic little side street. I thought €200 was expensive for a small, charming guesthouse. The entrance and breakfast room are decorated beautifully, and breakfast had everything you could want 😊. The beds were really comfortable, but the rooms didn’t look as nice as they had online. Fine for one night.
