Hotel Restaurant De Loenermark

On my second visit, I was delighted to be back in the area. My brother ordered the hamburger again and enjoyed it as much as he had when I was here with my family last time. I went for the “Twelve O Clocker”: good-quality ham, soft white bread and crunchy fresh sauerkraut, topped with a perfectly cooked soft egg. Yum! Prices are decent, and the service was good and friendly. Next time I’ll come with my girlfriend. We’ll sit in the lounge nook with a book and coffee to digest a bit before heading back toward our hotel. See you again soon, and thanks for the excellent service.

We stopped with friends for a quick drink and took an outside table. It hadn’t been cleared, and the waitress walked past several times without acknowledging us until we called her over. Once the table was cleared and our drinks order taken, we waited another 15 minutes for the drinks. The waitresses looked like they didn’t want to be there and never smiled. We also saw several other uncleared tables, and people waiting a considerable time for their orders to be taken and for food and drinks to be served.

The restaurant is actually better than the hotel. I’m not sure whether this is meant to be a two- or three-star place, but it doesn’t feel worth the three stars on the façade. It’s not the worst, though the staircase is hazardously steep, the bathroom has no heating or electric socket, and the windows are single-glazed. The breakfast buffet is very small, and the place feels outdated overall. It probably depends on whether you can get a low enough rate.

The restaurant said it was open for lunch, and the whole dining room was empty. We wanted a window table, but the bartender/waiter irrationally insisted it was reserved for dinner and directed us to a dark area instead. This was at 12:30 pm, so it seemed clear there was time to clean and prepare the tables for dinner. Explaining why we needed a window seat and trying to connect didn’t get through. Following the rules seemed to matter more than whether they made sense. The person’s tone, dismissiveness and lack of humanity were really sad to witness. Why work in hospitality with that attitude? Thankfully, we found another place a seven-minute walk away, where we could sit where we wanted, as it should be. The staff there were kind and welcoming, and the food was delicious. So, thank you for sending us away. I’m really grateful. 🙏
