The room cleanliness needs work, with a lot of dust under the bed, and the hotel doesn’t feel worth what it charges. The scenery around it is lovely, but that didn’t make up for our experience. We were a group of 13 visiting for a family event over Valentine weekend. For Valentine’s Day, we booked a table for six at the hotel’s Luigis Bar for 6:30 pm. Starters didn’t arrive until 7:30, and we hadn’t been given a menu. We were told the chef would decide what was served, so we had no idea what we’d be eating or when. The wine list came at 8:15 because, we were told, there were only two copies for two restaurants. Our main course arrived sometime between 8:30 and 8:45. At reception I asked to speak to the manager, but was brusquely told they wouldn’t be available all weekend because of carnival. Nobody apologized. When I said I might post a public review, the response was that they didn’t care. I won’t be coming back.

Breakfast was full of tasty fresh and local choices, and the hotel had a calm, welcoming feel throughout our stay in Zuid-Limburg. We felt at home, helped by the staff’s easy multilingual service. Busra at reception was especially kind and helpful. We had a wonderful time at Winselerhof.

The building is really beautiful and has a historic look. It’s set in a green area near the companies in Kerkrade, and the staff were very attentive. We enjoyed the great breakfast and both of the restaurants on site. I’d recommend it.

That morning buffet was amazing, and the six-course Christmas dinner before it was the best one I’ve ever had. The room was really cosy and stayed warm despite the chilly -3 degrees outside.

The food was amazing, and I had a really nice weekend in this beautiful, cosy, elegant place. One small thing, it would be nice if they offered vegan milk for coffee at breakfast.
