Le Theatre Hotel

We had a great stay at Le Theatre Hotel last weekend, from Friday to Sunday. The Vrijthof location is ideal, with everything in walking distance, and the staff were very friendly. The hotel has a cozy boutique feel, with a nice restaurant and brasserie out front. We stayed in the dependance at the back. It was very clean and smelled like Rituals, and the room had a big, comfy boxspring, plenty of space for clothes, and a nice shower. We’d definitely recommend it and will be back.

The beds were super comfortable, and the room was clean. For a city break in Maastricht, this is a perfect base, especially with such a central location and a very reasonable price. The only tiny gripe was that the shower pressure could be stronger. I’d definitely stay again if I return to Maastricht.

The room was on the ground level and had a really interesting atmosphere. The location is perfect for a city tour, though the hotel can sometimes be hard to find because the front desk is at the back of the restaurant. When you arrive, you can ask reception where the parking is.

There’s no reception, and the QR entry system was a mess. The flimsy piece of paper they called a “key” wouldn’t scan properly, so another guest and I spent 15 minutes struggling with the entrance door. I keep wondering what would happen if I lost that paper. At 11 pm there’s nobody there to let you in. Would I have had to sleep outside? Service felt more like a hostel than a hotel, and I expected more. There’s no bar, since the lobby bar closes very early, leaving no chance to get a drink. There were no “do not disturb” or “make my room” signs either. A woman knocked hard in the morning to ask if I needed cleaning. I asked her to come back in an hour, but apparently nobody did. The room also had no slippers or bathrobes.
