Amrâth Hotel DuCasque

The bathroom could use some attention: the shower curtain was old, a little rusty, and awkward to move. Otherwise, we had a great stay. The hotel was clean and very well placed in the city, and since it was almost empty while we were there, they upgraded our room.

The streets can get noisy at night, but I really enjoyed my stay 😊. It's right in the city centre, with fair prices, friendly service, and a great breakfast.

I was glad to find water jugs at reception during the hot weather in the last few days. The room itself was clean and quiet, and the staff were friendly and polite. Breakfast had plenty of choice and was excellent; the woman at the breakfast counter was very polite when she asked for our room numbers. The bath setup was the one drawback. It had a folding screen instead of a curtain, and it felt a bit precarious and didn't keep all the shower water off the floor. The hotel was comfortable and clean, and within walking distance of the Basilica of Mother Mary, St Servaas's church, and other sights. For the location and price, it was a cozy stay with good value.

The staff were lovely, and breakfast was fine, though nothing much to write home about. Other parts of the stay were a bit of an adventure. The balcony was shared with strangers and a couple of very confident pigeons, and the bathroom had no hooks for hanging things. Trying to read in bed was tough without night vision, and the coffee machine had a long, complicated past that I didn't want in my cup. I also spent ages trying to work out how to lock the door from inside. The Do Not Disturb sign seemed to stop the door from closing properly, and one ceiling panel looked ready to make a dramatic exit.
