Campanile Hotel Rotterdam - Oost

Room 106 smelled of cigarettes and damp, the bed was uncomfortable, and there were hardly any towels. The sheets looked unclean, but by the time I noticed, it was too late to ask for a change. The kettle was filthy too. After staying there, I developed spots all over my back, which has never happened to me before. I suspect poor hygiene, and after reading other reviews, I wondered if it could have been bedbugs, though I can't be sure. I don't understand how this place is still operating and taking people's money. It was horrible, and I would never stay again.

We had a good two-night stay for a price that was reasonable compared with other hotels near the city centre. The room was cosy for two, and the water temperature was easy to adjust and worked well, despite what some other guests had said. We also enjoyed the view from the balcony, and the few tables by reception were cute.

I paid a little over 100 euros a night, around 200 euros for the weekend, and that felt excessive for the room's quality and cleanliness, even though the location is good. Over two nights, I was woken several times: at 2 a.m. by people arguing, then in the morning by work right outside my door, and at 4 a.m. by a group shouting and laughing. The walls are so thin I could even hear a neighbour's phone vibrating. On the second night, I came back to find a roommate in my room (see photo). I don't usually leave bad reviews, but that price was too much for this experience.

Room 206 made for a bad night. The bathroom water started cold, then suddenly turned hot enough to burn my skin. The heating is old, the inner door doesn't close properly, and there's almost no sound insulation. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
