Luxurious, Spacious Suite Near Maastricht

We had the unit's space in mind when we booked, but in summer it wasn't very pleasant to spend time in it. For sightseeing in Maastricht, I wouldn't recommend Dormio. I'd choose smaller accommodation in town where food is available. The restaurant was the biggest surprise. It closes at 8:00 PM, yet at 7:20 PM on our arrival day they wouldn't seat my family. A waiter told the maitre d', right in front of us, “no, I don't want to do another table.” The registration desk said the restaurant ignores them too; they tried calling but got no answer. I was jet-lagged, didn't yet know the parking situation in town, and just wanted help figuring out food. The staff member I asked shrugged, suggested we drive into town or maybe order delivery, then turned away. During the stay I met two very nice people at the front desk, but three others seemed bothered to talk to guests. The place is in a commercial and residential suburb, a bit like an American office park, so the atmosphere felt sterile. It's convenient if you have a car or are comfortable biking moderate distances. Free parking is available, though for townhouse style attached units, the photos make it look like parking is right outside each unit when it isn't. I was surprised there was no air conditioning at this chain resort at this price. That was my mistake for assuming based on home. At least the windows opened, including vents at the top, and the front desk lent me a fan. Think of the place as a cluster of VRBO/Airbnb units with a central check-in desk, rather than a resort in the American sense. On the plus side, it stayed relaxing and quiet. We had the windows open all night, directly across from the front desk and restaurant, and noise wasn't a problem.

There's parking and a breakfast area, plus a barbecue spot. The place has all the kitchen and bathroom amenities we needed, and it was clean, cozy, and even more beautiful than I'd imagined. It's well suited to families, couples, and friends, and the price is very suitable. I loved it!
