B&B Logeren bij van Heeren

We left after just one night of our planned three night stay, and received only 100 euros back. Given that we had to abandon our holiday, we expected a full refund as a basic courtesy. That says a lot about the experience. We’d asked in advance whether Van Heeren would work for us as a young family, and there were many reasons it didn’t. Our main worry was safety. We were told three German girls who “come every year” would be staying upstairs, but we hadn’t understood how close the spaces were. There was no door separating the living area from where they slept. It turned out to be a larger mixed group of festival partygoers, not the female group we’d been told about. We briefly saw them dressed for the party, with half empty wine bottles as they headed to the dance festival. As a parent, your kids come first, and I didn’t think it was at all suitable to have small babies and intoxicated partygoers in such a small space. We’d expected somewhere charming to enjoy for 600 euros for three nights. Instead, it felt like a no frills crash pad, with astroturf instead of grass and cheap construction. The photos were misleading because they combined separate areas. The glowing online reviews had left us surprised. We felt thoroughly taken advantage of by the owner, whose clear focus seemed to be making money from guests instead of making their stay comfortable. My husband called it “running a barracks.” It was one of the worst holiday experiences we’ve had.

Staying here feels magical, with such a charming, cozy, and unique place. Ingrid, the homeowner, is warm, kind, and welcoming. Every morning we had amazing homemade breakfast, prepared with care and love. Thank you so much for having us. Highly recommend!
