Hotel De Druiventros

The location is handy for getting to interesting places, and there’s plenty of free parking. Staff were friendly, service was good, and the internet worked well. Breakfast was good and I enjoyed it, but the pizza I had that evening wasn’t to my taste. The building is old but beautiful; my room was large and clean, with a good bathroom and older but decent furniture. There’s also a big sports club with a wide range of training machines. Traffic noise bothered me at night because the hotel is close to the main road.

The staff were friendly, but the rooms were extremely worn and poorly equipped. Breakfast was more like what you’d expect at a motorway stop. You could manage it if you were very hungry, otherwise I wouldn’t bother. Two stars feels about right for this hotel.

Lunch took an hour and 20 minutes to arrive even though there were very few customers. I’d ordered a simple fish dish, and part of it was forgotten, which wasted even more time. The service was very poor. Staff weren’t around in the open area outside the restaurant, where most of the customers were. I wasn’t impressed.

We booked the family room through Groupon for a very low price. It worked fine for the four of us, but don’t expect luxury: it’s plain, simple and functional, with a tiny TV and no fridge.
