Fortuna Spinoza

The breakfast was one of the best parts of our three days at Fortuna Spinoza: generous, tasty, and full of choice. I live in Dubai and was especially surprised by the mango hummus, freshly sourced from the local farmer’s market. I’d never written such a detailed review before, but this stay really stayed with me. It was my husband’s birthday, and Babetta had champagne ready for us along with a handwritten birthday note. From the moment we arrived, the host was kind, attentive, and made us feel at home. The property felt like a palace, with cozy rooms, beautiful design, and thoughtful little touches. Everything we might need was already there. Fortuna Spinoza is about 20 minutes from the city, with convenient, frequent connections, so we never felt far from things. In Europe, where you can spend a fortune and still get average hospitality, the care and comfort here felt priceless. If we return to the Netherlands, we’d choose it again without hesitation over staying in Amsterdam city centre. It’s a rare find, and I can’t recommend it enough.

The room was cozy, nicely styled, and had everything we needed. With nature all around and such peaceful quiet, it felt like a real break from everyday noise. Sitting outside in the evening and thinking back over the day was a treat. I spent my birthday at Fortuna Spinoza, and the calm, comfortable feel made it seem more like visiting a close friend’s lovely country home than staying at a B&B. The host was warm and welcoming, and her thoughtful way of looking after us made it easy to relax and enjoy the occasion. This place made a lasting impression. I’d return in a heartbeat.

We had a magical weekend at Fortuna Spinoza. Breakfast was delicious, served in a beautiful room overlooking a lovely garden, and waking up to church bells was a treat. Babette and her husband were so warm and friendly, and their two little dogs are beautiful. The house is gorgeous, full of unique, lovely details. Nothing to fault.

Babette made my friend's birthday trip one we’ll always remember. She was genuinely friendly and thoughtful about all the little details. The hotel has so much history and character throughout, and you can really feel its soul. We loved our stay at this charming boutique hotel in Monnickendam and are already keen to come back, especially once the spa is finished. Thanks to Babette and the whole team for the lovely memories.
