The rooms are pretty and clean, though very small, and they worked well enough for us. The main issue was noise. The out-of-tune church bells ring every 15 minutes, but the double glazing meant they didn’t bother me. You can hear neighbors walking on the upper floors, which don’t seem very well insulated. What kept jolting us awake in bed, though, was doors slamming in the hallway. The “reception” is handled by a restaurant across the street. With so few choices, this is the best hotel in Monnickendam.

The room was nicely furnished, but the shower area needs more privacy. The nearby church bells were awful. Earplugs were provided, but they still made noise all through the night, every 15 minutes.

The suites are beautiful, and our room had everything we could have wanted. It can get a little noisy because of the bell towers, since you’re right in the middle of town, so earplugs are provided. They were quick to answer any questions and help us out. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The setting was good and the bed was very comfortable. The downstairs lighting was quite dark, though, and the shower could use more privacy.
