Pension Bakema is a real gem, and Ameland is too. Our standard room was on the small side but comfortable, with two beds, a couple of chairs, a little fridge and a very nice bathroom. Everything was clean and in great shape; the TV and internet worked well. We slept with the window open, and it stayed dark and completely quiet. Bike parking was handy too. Catharina & Boudewijn were delightful hosts. The location is ideal, just outside the center of Nes and about a five minute walk into town. We mostly got around by bicycle.

We spent five nights in the deluxe studio at Pension Bakema and were impressed. It’s a small place with only seven rooms, but it’s beautifully decorated and furnished to a high standard. Our room even had a Jacuzzi bath. Though quiet, it’s just a minute from the center of Nes and its restaurants, and the ferry is a walk of about 20 minutes. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Our host was welcoming and happy to help, including arranging a bottle of champagne in the room when we asked. The two star rating shown on some websites really doesn’t do the place justice. Highly recommended.

A quiet, welcoming bed and breakfast, with friendly people to greet you. It’s well placed in Ameland’s main village, and the center and restaurants are an easy walk away. Loved our stay.
