Buiten Gewoon - Gewoon Buiten

The grounds have a pond with big carp and a small animal park with deer, alpacas, goats, wallabies, storks, donkeys, and Flemish giants. It's a lovely base for cycling on the many paths or walking for hours through woods and heathland, and you can rent e-bikes. The B&B itself is cozy and friendly, with a really quiet setting in beautiful Drenthe. There's a self-service bar for drinks and snacks, just mark what you take on the list. Breakfast is extensive and delicious, a good start to the day. Weekday care for older people from the neighborhood takes place there, but it doesn't bother guests. A visit to the Cuby and the Blizzards in Grollo is recommended too.

Even with the restaurant empty, it felt festive, with cheerful music playing. We were welcomed so warmly, and the hospitality was especially nice during COVID-19. Sunday breakfast was delicious and generous, and our two-night hiking package included well-prepared packed lunches. Getting dinner delivered was easy, since restaurants had to close at 5 p.m. Such a lovely, welcoming place. I'd definitely recommend it.

In the evening, the friendly staff leave early, so guests can make themselves at home. Downstairs there's a cozy shared area with coffee, tea, soft drinks, and wine, and you just tick off what you take. Upstairs, you have your own room. Breakfast is ready from 8:30 AM, and while you make a croissant, they tidy your room. This is a really hospitable place, and it feels like more than an ordinary B&B.

The cleanliness really stood out, and the beds were comfortable. We had a fantastic few days in a beautiful setting, and the welcome when we arrived was so friendly that other businesses could learn from it. We'll definitely come back. 😃 Peter and Lejeanne
