Boutique hotel Badhotel Bruin

The crew was fabulous, and the food was great. We came for dinner and loved the romantic, chic setting.

The room had a small, cozy balcony and comfortable beds, and it was clean. It also had a stove, oven, and all the cookware, dishes, and cutlery you’d need, so it seems especially handy for a longer stay. The hotel sits on the town’s main street, close to the ferry, which meant we didn’t have to haul our luggage far. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We’d emailed ahead and were able to get into our room at 12, even though check-in normally starts at 3 or 4. If the room isn’t ready, you can leave your bags at the hotel and head out to explore. When we checked out, they also offered to hold our luggage. Badhotel Bruin gives coupons for bike rentals, and we got 15 percent off. There’s a large restaurant and a spa, though we didn’t visit either.

If you’re vegetarian or vegan, I wouldn’t eat here. They say there are “vegan” choices, but the fries are cooked in animal fat, and both the soup and rice are made with chicken broth. It felt like they could make proper vegan food, but chose not to put in the extra effort and lied to us.

After a day of activities, it’s lovely to have a warm, cozy place to unwind, especially with the high chance of bad weather on the islands. I really appreciated that the spa and sauna were free.
