Otium Hotel

The location was a nightmare on a Saturday afternoon before Christmas. Reception staff are lovely and will try to help, but the rooms need proper soundproofing. Why put big TVs on paper-thin walls? I had two nights of interrupted sleep. Surely soundproofing could have been built in with modern materials.

The lobby was small and not very family-friendly, and breakfast was a daily squeeze with long queues. The front desk staff member was impolite and unhelpful. She seemed amused by what had happened and more focused on the next customer than helping us. Booking didn't respond when we asked them for support. We'd chosen the hotel for its wellness facilities and pool, only to find out on arrival that our five-year-old son couldn't use them. The description never mentioned this, nor did we know the spa was a nude facility. That information would have mattered to our decision and it ruined our plans. We contacted Booking about the difference between the listing and what was provided. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we've had in a long time.

The wellness area was just what I needed to switch off for a while, and my room was clean, cozy, and quiet. From arrival, the whole hotel and wellness place felt calm and welcoming. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and you can tell they care. I'd recommend it if you're looking to recharge.

We stayed with family at Otium in Roosendaal, five of us in one room. The kids loved the bubble bath with all its lights, and our room was nice. Everyone on staff was exceptionally friendly and smiling, and we got a welcome drink. The location was great and we had no complaints. We didn't try the wellness facilities, though they looked nice and relaxing.
