Fletcher Hotel Rotterdam-Airport

We booked the biggest suite, but apart from the bed there was nowhere decent to sleep. The couch was made of small sections with hard wooden beams between them, and sleeping on it was worse than on the floor. Something on the roof, maybe a flag, screeched unbearably whenever the wind blew, so I only managed a few minutes of sleep at a time. We ordered room service and it never arrived. Two hours later we went downstairs, where they said there had been an error, even though I could clearly see our order sitting on their tablet. The corridors also had strange people hanging around, dirty and covered in mud, clearly very drunk, asking for cigarettes and a light. It didn't feel safe.

We booked the suite and found white splashes on the bathroom door, a pee smell in one corner of the living room, and several stains on the couch. The furniture and fittings were very worn and poorly maintained. Dinner took two hours because of a technical problem, as they put it, and it was overpriced. We got no apology, discount, or even a simple sorry. It left us with an angry, overtired toddler. Avoid this place, especially for what it costs. Four stars? A joke!

Reception staff were always courteous and helpful, and we had a pleasant meal at the hotel restaurant, especially the one with the terrace. Those were the bright spots in an otherwise disappointing stay that fell far short of what we expected. Breakfast was a problem every morning. Whether we arrived at 9:20, 9:30, 9:40, or even 9:50, the buffet hadn't been replenished and many important items were missing. Staff seemed disengaged and just watched without doing anything. At 10:00 or shortly after, they also gestured and abruptly told us to leave in an impolite, disrespectful way, even though we were customers. Housekeeping was below standard as well. The sheets were sometimes just adjusted, and only fully changed when we specifically asked or were there to watch. We expected better cleanliness and care from a hotel at this level. Despite a few good interactions, I wouldn't recommend it, even for one night, given the overall service.

A handy choice for an early flight, since the hotel is right by the terminal at Rotterdam The Hague Airport. The rooms were excellent, quiet despite being so close to the airport, and had a view of it. Restaurant service was a little slow, but the food was very nice.
