Canal view apartment in the center of Amsterdam - Apt 1

The location was excellent, with everything, including Centraal station, within walking distance. The hotel was otherwise perfect, and we’d stay again if we could get one of the rooms with an open balcony. I think L3-L4 at the back looked best, since I’d like better access to open doors and windows. Amsterdam isn’t a cheap place to visit, with prices about the same as the US or a little higher. Groceries at Dirk Supermarkt were much cheaper than US grocery stores, though. It’s worth getting familiar with the trams and checking the iamsterdam website or city card for unlimited travel on the gvb system. We came from the US for the first part of our first trip to Europe. The service was outstanding, breakfast was delicious, and Sasha was a pleasure to meet and work with. She was kind, very customer focused, and extremely helpful, including arranging a taxi to AMS for 50-70€ and sharing public transport information. Our main issue was how extremely hot the room got. Luckily, we were on the first floor and could open the window, but there was no screen, so I didn’t feel comfortable leaving it open for long while we explored. I worried cats or birds might get in, even though the window was about 10 feet above street level. There was a nice oscillating metal fan in the room, which helped in the late evenings when we went to bed.

Sinan and Leonardo were especially helpful during my visit, and the staff as a whole were friendly and attentive. Everything was well organized, and I left happy and satisfied. Thanks for making it such a great experience.

The day staff were very helpful and kind, but the night staff seemed to stay downstairs even though reception is supposed to be open 24 hours. If you’re upstairs and need something, you have to go down those steep stairs yourself. We only needed a TV pin, but it still meant extra trips. Those stairs up to the top room are just insane if you end up there. I slept in the dip between the two beds pushed together and woke up with a bad back. Breakfast was 17 each, and unfortunately I didn’t enjoy it. I think they should make it clear that it’s eggs and a cold platter with jam. You can get a cooked breakfast for less a few steps away.

We had a street-facing room on the third floor, and it was very noisy. The breakfasts were lovely, but the place was quite far from the sights we wanted to visit. I also have a bad right knee, and going up and down the stairs was painful. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have bad knees.
