Le Petit Marin Boutique Hotel

We really enjoyed our few days at this hotel in the heart of Rotterdam. It’s under a 20-minute walk from Rotterdam central, with a tram stop right next to it. Our room, number 414, had a fantastic skyline view, a very comfortable bed, and a spacious bathroom. There wasn’t a closet, but for a short stay we didn’t need one. The staff were nice, and we could leave our luggage at the hotel after checkout. Just be aware that they only accept cards. We’d suggest staying here if you’re visiting Rotterdam.

The bathroom was surprisingly luxurious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was tiny and basic, with just a bed, TV, and little desk. This is a very basic hotel, but compared with others in Holland I think it’s worth the price. There’s no ice maker or mini-fridge, though there is a coffee maker and fruit in the lobby. A tram station is about five minutes away, with connections to Rotterdam centraal and the city center. I also liked being close to Dirk and some good restaurants. The AC kept acting up in summer, and I had to call to get it fixed. I’d stay again if they can sort out that issue.

The rooms felt spacious compared with most European hotel rooms, and the AC actually worked. Breakfast tasted good, but at 20€ it was much too expensive for what you got. The hotel is quite out of the way, about 15 minutes from the train station and 25 minutes from any recent restaurant. The bathroom door should be a sliding one so it doesn’t get so muggy in there.

The mattress was broken and so uncomfortable that I couldn’t sleep properly. There were dirty spots in the bathroom, and marks on the bathroom door that looked like splashed water or something else. The breakfast was very poor, more like B&B quality, with canned eggs cooked too long. The breakfast staff were smoking outside. Not worth that kind of money.
