Leonardo Hotel Rotterdam Savoy

We had a corner room with windows on both sides, which was a nice and unusual feature. It wasn’t large, but there was still enough room to open our luggage comfortably. The decor was hip, with a record player and an old-style telephone giving it a fun retro feel. The location worked well too: Blaak station is nearby, just one stop from Rotterdam Central, and Market Hall is an easy walk with lots of food choices.

The hotel’s location was the real highlight, making it easy to explore Rotterdam on foot. I stayed five nights, though the experience was pretty average. The room’s modern look with vintage touches was pleasant, but nothing special, and I expected more comfort and finish from a 4-star place. Breakfast was disappointing, very basic with little variety, and there’s no gym or sauna. Self check-in was easy to use, but it made the place feel impersonal. The staff seemed detached and not very interested in guests, which felt colder than other hotels of the same level I’ve stayed in. It’s fine if you just need a bed in the city center, but I wouldn’t expect the services or attention of a proper 4-star hotel.

Our balcony room was absolutely gorgeous, and the staff were lovely and helpful. The buffet was fantastic and worth 15 euro, and the area was pleasant and an easy distance from the train station. There were three of us, and an Uber into Amsterdam Centrum actually cost the same or even less. The one letdown was housekeeping: the policy says they come every three days, or you can book a cleaning online, but our room wasn’t serviced at all during our seven-day stay. Still, it was a lovely visit and we’ll definitely come back.

The design is so streamlined and cool, with a turntable, espresso machine, and flat-screen TV. It’s a very clean, modern hotel with a huge comfortable bed and a walk-in shower. I’ll stay here again.
